Sabine Egelhaaf was awarded the Possehl Prize for Lübeck Art in 2023 to implement an installation and participative project in the public space. "The artist's oeuvre is characterised by multimedia installation works and complex site-specific projects in public spaces; the poetic overall effect of her installations appeals to viewers as co-thinkers and co-actors," said the international jury in its statement. The prize from the Possehl Foundation enabled Sabine Egelhaaf to realise her project entitled SAMMELSTELLE (collection/assembly point), a responsive, sculptural work in progress: from August to October 2024, the artist invited visitors to this open architectural structure planted with regional "future plants" such as millet, buckwheat, hemp and amaranth for an exchange with no pressure to buy anything, to discuss ideas and concepts for a sustainable future and to reflect on options for action. 24 events on the topic of sustainability were organised during this period.

In this project, the artist refers to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, a global blueprint to promote sustainable peace and prosperity and to protect our planet. The jury was particularly impressed by her participatory approach and her reflections on a relevant social issue together with residents and visitors to Lübeck.
