Award for local artists

The Possehl Prize for Lübeck Art has been awarded annually since 2018 - except in the years in which the Possehl Prize for International Art is awarded. The winners of both art prizes are selected by the same jury, whose members come from internationally renowned art galleries and museums. The Possehl Prize for Lübeck Art provides prize money of €8,000 for the realisation of an artistic work. All artists who live and/or work in Lübeck can take part in the call for proposals with a project outlne.

Johanna Broziat

In her works, the artist Johanna Broziat creates new spatial architectures with historical references. She won the Possehl Prize for Lübeck Art 2024 for her concept of an artistic search for traces and clues.

Sabine Egelhaaf

In 2023, Sabine Egelhaaf won the Possehl Prize for Lübeck Art with the idea of a SAMMELSTELLE (collection/meeting point), an installation and participation project in the public space in which concepts for a more sustainable future were discussed.

Heinke Both

Heinke Both combines painting, drawing, collage and photography and deals with fundamental questions of the human condition. She received the Possehl Prize for Lübeck Art in 2021 and experimented with the medium of lithography.

Sebastian Schröder

Sebastian Schröder won the Possehl Prize for Lübeck Art in 2020. In a large diptych made from around 400,000 iron-on beads, he explored the medieval allegorical images known as 'danses macabres', juxtaposing them with the coronavirus pandemic.

Janine Gerber

In 2018, the first Possehl Prize for Lübeck Art was awarded to Janine Gerber. The artist, who experiments with the transformative properties of light, created a large installation made of paper and machine oil.
