International artists in Lübeck
With the Possehl Prize for International Art, the Possehl Foundation honours living artists of national and international renown for their life's work or an outstanding work or group of works. The prize has been awarded every three years since 2019. The jury selects a prizewinner from twelve proposals put forward by an international selection committee. The focus of the award is on outstanding process of artistic exploration and continuous achievement over a period of at least a decade, which deserve special recognition. The prize is awarded in the categories of sculpture, installation, new media and performance as well as forms of artistic intervention. Intermedia references between diverse forms of artistic expression in the overall oeuvre are particularly taken into account when awarding the prize. The award includes prize money of €25,000 and an exhibition in Lübeck.
Shilpa Gupta
In her work, Shilpa Gupta (*1976) deals with important issues in today's society such as belonging, security, censorship, religion, freedom of expression and human rights. On 27 September, the artist will be awarded the Possehl Prize for International Art 2025.
